William was born in 1800.  William's father was Thomas Blenkin and his mother was Rebecca Mercy.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Blenkin and Elizabeth Hemrough. He had a brother and three sisters, named Edward, Martha, Rebecca and Judith.  He was the second oldest of the five children.
